While new light sets typically include flasher bulbs, they need to be replaced often and in one holiday season, I may replace them numerous times. It’s been difficult to find replacement flasher bulbs.
With standard light sets, I usually use the flasher bulbs rather than keep them steady burning. I’ve been slowly replacing all standard light sets with energy-saving LED light sets. They both get decorated with light sets, mini glass ornaments, tinsel/garland, a small velvet red bow and tree toppers. I don’t put up a large Christmas tree due to space constraints, so I decorate two small tabletop trees – a 2-foot tree and an 18-inch tree. I did find something similar to what I ordered from Amazon at Target, so I know where to go if I need a little more. It’s not as thick as the tinsel/garland I used to get from Kmart, but it will have to do. I checked some other stores but didn’t really like the tinsel/garland they had available, so I ordered some white tinsel/garland from Amazon. This year, I didn’t find any tinsel like what I usually get. Last year, they didn’t have it, so I settled on a silver tinsel/garland. For instance, I usually get thick white tinsel/garland from Kmart that looks like snow but over the past few years, it’s become more difficult to find at Kmart. I did stock up on certain decorations at the end of last year’s holiday season (ex: glass ornaments) usually taking advantage of after Christmas sales but I don’t have everything I need (or want) for the upcoming holiday season and do need (and want) to get certain items. This makes it harder to get the decorations that I need in order to decorate earlier than the weekend before Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, many of the stores that I usually go to for Christmas and holiday decorations don’t have decorations available yet, have limited items currently available, are in the process of closing (going out of business) and have no new stock or the stores have already closed. and look for new decorations every holiday season. Sure, I re-use certain decorations from prior years but I also replace tinsel/garland, ornaments, light sets, etc. Generally, my biggest challenge with holiday decorating is getting all decorations that I need. That said, I probably won’t put up holiday decorations until the weekend before Thanksgiving. I think with the way 2020 has been going, we can all use a little Christmas and holiday spirit right about now. This year will be a little different as Lite FM will switch over to all Christmas music this Friday, November 13th at 5pm ET whereas in previous years, it would happen the Friday before the week of Thanksgiving (last year may have been earlier as well). It started off as arbitrary but over the years, the timing aligns well with New York’s 106.7 Lite FM switching over to all Christmas music for the season. After years of alternating the decorating schedule, I’ve settled on putting up holiday decorations the weekend before Thanksgiving. I’ve put them up the weekend before Thanksgiving, on Black Friday and Thanksgiving weekend. I’ve put up holiday decorations in early November. Granted, everyone will have their own thoughts and opinions on when the “right time” is for putting up holiday decorations. "Every year, the Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes brings so much joy to our kick-off to Christmas music, and we're so happy to be able to bring back holiday cheer.‘Tis the season to decorate for the holidays! But when is the right time? Early November, mid-November, before Thanksgiving, on or after Thanksgiving, December, Christmas Eve … the options go on and on. "All of us at 106.7 LITE FM are excited to bring our yearly tradition back to Radio City Music Hall," said Program Director Chris Conley. 106.7 LITE FM will also feature an interview and special performance by Michael Buble, which can be streamed on the station's website. In addition, listeners can also watch a behind the scenes look into the Radio City Rockettes daily routine between each set, costume changes and performances on the station's website. 106.7 LITE FM personalities Cubby and Christine will announce the official switch at the Christmas Spectacular. 106.7 LITE FM and the Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes are kicking off the annual Christmas music station flip. IHeartMedia AC WLTW-FM (106.7 LITE FM)/New York will make its annual switch to New York's Christmas station and will broadcast around-the-clock festive music leading into the holiday season for listeners in the New York Tri-state area beginning at 5pm on Friday.
